S&K Roofing, Siding and Windows Continues Tradition of Giving by Kicking Off Inaugural Food Drive to Benefit the Maryland Food Bank

SYKESVILLE, MD -- November 17, 2004 –S&K Roofing, Siding and Windows (www.SKRoofing.com) continue its tradition of giving by kicking off their first Holiday food drive to benefit the Maryland Food Bank (www.mdfoodbank.org). 

Food drive organizer and S&K Director of Sales, Charlie McCurry, personally donated more than 30 cans of food and various boxed food items himself. "As a company, S&K has a long-standing tradition of financial giving to a number of worthwhile causes such as Children's Hospital and The Johns Hopkins Cancer Center. But for our latest campaign, we wanted to get our employees, contractors and customers involved as well," said McCurry.

S&K chose the Maryland Food Bank because of its long-standing reputation for feeding thousands of Marylanders each week through food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, low-income day care centers, after school programs, senior centers, rehabilitation centers and other food programs. In addition to providing food, the Maryland Food Bank offers ongoing support, services and education to the community food providers in their network.

"One of the things that gives us great satisfaction is the opportunity to return the favor of our clients business by sharing our blessings with those in need”  said Maija Kropp, Vice President of S&K, “The Maryland Food Bank is a well-organized operation that reaches so many needy families – participating is another proud moment for us.”

Canned and non-perishable food, as well as non-food items can be donated at a drop box located at S&K's office at 1341 W. Liberty Road in Sykesville, just across the street from South Carroll High School.  Most needed food items include canned meat, tuna, salmon, ham and chicken, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, oatmeal, cereal, pasta, canned fruits and vegetables, and soups. Non-food items also needed include diapers, toilet paper, feminine hygiene items, and plastic/paper plates and cups.
