ELDERSBURG, MD. November 15, 2006. S&K Roofing,
Siding and Windows (SKRoofing.com)
continues its tradition of giving by kicking off
their 3rd annual holiday food drive this week to
benefit the Maryland Food Bank (MDFoodBank.org)
and thousands of Marylanders in need of food
assistance this holiday season.
Building a Strong and Healthy Community
As a company, S&K has a long-standing tradition
of financial giving to a number of worthwhile
causes such as Children's Hospital and The Johns
Hopkins Cancer Center. Every holiday season,
however, the local home improvement company
manages to include employees, contractors,
vendors, as well as their customers in the
annual food drive that benefits the Maryland
Food Bank (MDFoodBank.org).
Fighting hunger requires teamwork as there are
over 200,000 Marylanders turning to food
assistance every year. “This holiday season, S&K
hopes that everyone able will contribute to
share their blessings with those in need”,
stated Charlie McCurry, S&K Director of Sales
and food drive organizer.
Last year S&K collected more than 700 lbs. of
non-perishable food and non-food items. The goal
for the 2006 season is to collect over 1000 lbs.
“Our job is easy”, stated McCurry. “All we do is
collect and deliver the donations. The credit
goes to the local community and the people who
have enabled S&K to donate over ˝ ton of food to
the Maryland Food Bank over the last 2 seasonal
drives”. In addition to conducting and
sponsoring the local food drive, S&K will match
each pound of food donated with a $1 donation.
Maryland Food Bank
S&K choose the Maryland Food Bank because of its
reputation for providing nearly 12 million
pounds of food annually to 1,000 community food
providers – including food pantries, soup
kitchens, emergency shelters, low-income day
care centers, after school programs, senior
centers, rehabilitation centers and other food
programs. In addition to providing food, the
Maryland Food Bank offers ongoing support,
services and education to the community food
providers in their network.
Canned and non-perishable food, as well as
non-food items can be donated at a drop box
located at S&K's showroom at 5399 Enterprise
Street in Eldersburg now through December 21,
2006. Most needed food items include canned
meat, tuna, salmon, ham and chicken, peanut
butter, macaroni and cheese, oatmeal, cereal,
pasta, canned fruits and vegetables, and soups.
Non-food items also needed include diapers,
toilet paper, feminine hygiene items, and
plastic/paper plates and cups. For more
