ELDERSBURG, MD.
December 26, 2007 - With the help of customers,
suppliers, employees and corporate sponsors, S&K
Roofing, Siding and Windows (SKRoofing.com)
was able to donate more than a ton of food to the
Maryland Food Bank (MDFoodBank.org),
surpassing last year's donation by 1,075 lbs. The
company president also matched each pound of donated
food with a monetary gift.
Fourth Annual Food Drive a Success
On December 21, S&K Owner Don Katzenberger and Sales
Director Charlie McCurry, the organizer of the
Fourth Annual Food Drive, packed up the mountain of
edibles and headed to the food bank's headquarters
in Halethorpe, MD. The load weighed a staggering
2,222 lbs., and, on the spot, Katzenberger wrote a
check for $2,222 matching each pound of food with a
$1 donation.
"We are overwhelmed,
but somehow not surprised by the response from our
neighbors, customers, employees and suppliers. The
fact that we almost doubled last year's contribution
is a tribute to the type of community that we are
lucky enough to reside in," stated McCurry. As in
other years, S&K's annual food collection was held
at the company's home improvement showroom in
Eldersburg, MD.
"Large donations from
organizations like EcoStar (EcoStarInc.com),
the Marquis Foundation (MarquisFoundation.org),
Brave New Markets (BraveNewMarkets.com)
and the Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church (WesleyFreedom.org)
helped a great deal, and together with individual
donations, we were able to exceed our goal for the
fourth year running," added McCurry.
