Roofing in Winter

Roofing in Winter

Well this winter sure has been one for the ages! There aren’t many winters that we can remember that have held us up from doing what we do best – roofing and exterior home improvements. This one, however, has had its challenges. Extreme low temperatures, ice and snow have worked hand-in-hand this winter to keep our crews inside on several days. Not only are the roof conditions a safety issue for our roofers, but extremely low temperatures are not conducive to the proper installation of fiberglass asphalt shingle roofing.

In the right conditions, fiberglass asphalt shingles are pliable. During installation, the outside temperature as well as direct sunlight aid in the shingles laying properly as to avoid warping. In extreme temperature lows, fiberglass asphalt shingles can become brittle and difficult to properly install. Because the quality of your new roof and the safety of our crews is of the highest importance to us, there are occasions that we may need to delay your roof installation. Such has been the case this winter.

The upside is that it’s March, and the snow, ice and arctic weather will soon be on its way out. Rest assured that if you project was delayed due to weather, it won’t be long before we are able to get it done!
