— 2010 Company Goal to Donate 2,000 pounds of Food and Match with a Dollar-per-pound Donation to the Maryland Food Bank —
ELDERSBURG, MD. November, 2010 – S&K Roofing, Siding and Windows (SKRoofing.com) announced today the launch of their 7th Annual Holiday Food Drive to benefit the Maryland Food Bank (MDFoodBank.org). This year S&K is determined to surpass last year’s donation and make this the most successful food drive since its inception in 2003.
In fiscal year 2010 the Maryland Food Bank distributed 18.6 million pounds of food. To end hunger in Maryland they would have to distribute more than 80 million pounds of food annually. “The ever widening gap between donations and distribution makes it more important than ever that we give our support,” stated Charlie McCurry, Sales Director at S&K Roofing, Siding and Windows. “This year we challenge more companies and more individuals to join us in our efforts,” added McCurry.
As in previous years, S&K will match each pound of food collected with a $1 monetary donation. Since their first food drive in 2003, S&K has donated more than 3.5 tons of food to the Maryland Food Bank.
Canned and non-perishable food, as well as non-food items can be donated during business hours at a drop box located in S&K’s Eldersburg showroom or dropped off after hours near the showroom entrance. Donations are being accepted now through December 17, 2010.
According to the Maryland Food Bank, the most needed food items include canned meat, peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, oatmeal, cereal, pasta, canned fruits and vegetables and soup. Non-food items needed include diapers, toilet paper, feminine hygiene items, plastic/paper plates and cups.
