— $1,000 in home improvements awarded in ‘win-it-in-a-minute’ contest at the S&K Second Annual Open House event —
ELDERSBURG, MD. May 27, 2010 – S&K Roofing, Siding and Windows (SKRoofing.com), announced today the grand prize winner of their 30th Anniversary Open House giveaway. Cynthia Smith, a Sykesville resident since 2004, claimed $1,000 in home improvements from S&K by beating 3 other finalists in a ‘win-it-in-a-minute’ style contest.
“I found out about the event by reading the newspaper,” stated Ms. Smith. “The moon bounce, games, giveaways and face-painting all sounded like great activities for the kids. Since we live so close to S&K, I thought it sounded like a great way to spend our Saturday morning.” Little did she know that she would walk away with the grand prize.
Win-It-In-A-Minute Contest
Event attendees qualified to compete for the $1,000 prize package by estimating the number of M&M’s sealed in a large glass jar. The four finalists closest to the actual number were selected to compete for the grand prize. The competition was a timed challenge in which the contestants separated M&M’s by color with one hand tied behind their back. The contestant who sorted the most M&M’s in one minute was the winner.
“This was our second year doing the open house, but the first one holding a contest to choose the grand prize winner,” stated S&K sales director Charlie McCurry. “It was a lot of fun, and we were pleased to be able to award the prize to a member of the local community.”
The event, held on Saturday, May 22, 2010, marked S&K’s 30-year anniversary and served as a way to thank the community for their support since 1980. Attendees were treated to games, free food, face painting, a moon bounce and booths from local community organizations. 100.7 The Bay radio was also on hand broadcasting live and giving away prizes.
Participating community organizations included Pink Cures (PinkCures.org), who was there to support breast cancer research, Relay 4 Life (Relay4Life.org) and the Ravens Nest 14 (RavensNests.com) who were there on behalf of the American Cancer Society, Carroll County Food Sunday (ccfoodsunday.org) and The Buddy Project (TheBuddyProject.net) an organization which provides used and refurbished computers to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
